So, I have made my very own toothpaste and mouthwash. And my teeth has never felt more clean, AND more white. Today there is so much harming ingredients that they put in our products, and I have been cleansing lately and getting rid of all the products in our home that can effect and disturb our health and wellbeing.
What you´ll normally find in a "regular" toothpaste
Fluoride- This is the most common ingredient found in toothpastes on the market. This is not something that I personally want in my home. Fluoride is not good for my thyroid gland, since it interferes with my thyroid hormone uptake.
Sweeteners- I think that all "regular" toothpaste contains sweeteners or sugar of any hidden form which makes no sense to me at all. Artificial sweeteners is not something I want to use by any means, especially not for my teeth so I´ll just leave it at that.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate- Also known as SLS, SLES (sodium laureth sulfate and ALS (ammonium lauryl sulfate is a foaming agent that you can find in many products such as your shampoo, soap and toothpaste. SLS has been linked to both organ toxicity, ulcers and neurotoxicity.
Triclosan- is a anti fungal agent used in soaps, detergents and some toothpastes and it has been linked to endocrine disruption, cancers and neurological damage.
This is only a few health damaging ingredients that I am trying to keep far away from our home as good as possible.
I am starting more and more to make my own products and it feels so good. So today I am sharing with you guys, how you can make your own homemade toothpaste that actually whitens your teeth the natural way- free from chemicals and hormone disturbing ingredients. I use this one every evening to get the whitening effect.
You´ll need :
Organic pure and natural baking soda (has a bleaching effect)
Pure and natural oil of your choice ( I like the minty flavour)
BONUS: To all my Swedish readers, between 9-15/4 you can get 20% discount on everything at Bodystore with the code AFF20. Happy shopping! X
- Place in a glass jar around 2 dl of coconut oil (you can add more if you want I used 2 dl), make sure it´s not melted but fluffy to mix with the other ingredients.
- Add around 1 1/2- 2 table spoons baking soda (I used 2 table spoons)
- Add the mint drops, I would say anything from 5-10 drops depending how strong you want it. I used 7 drops. The oil will last forever and you don´t need much at all since it´s very strong.
Mix everything together and it´s that simple and done. You´ll have to mix it until you´re satisfied of how you want the taste, too much baking soda can be too salty. You will feel the coconut taste regardless, but I kinda like that.
You can also make your very own mouthwash. I love this one so much. The reason why I want to do this is because a regular mouthwash contain so many harmful ingredients so I don´t even want to think about it. And I´ve red that it disturbs the natural gut flora too and we really don´t want that for our optimal health and wellbeing.
Just add in a glass bottle around 1/2 liter natural filtered room temperature water, 1 teaspoon baking soda and around 3-5 drops of mint oil depending on how strong you want it. Shake around gently and done.
You can also find my all natural Humble brush here. It is made of bamboo and the brush is totally BPA free. I love it and it comes in different colors too. And for every toothbrush purchased they donate the same amount worth of a toothbrush to the Swedish organisation A Child´s Smile. I think that is just simply amazing. Win win for everyone.
For me my health comes first and I am really starting to feel a huge difference since all harming products have been removed from my daily life. I even make my own face masks, use coconut oil as a lotion and have a 100% natural deodorant made of pure minerals. Our bodies absorb everything that we use on it and it goes through our bodies and organs.
Good luck beauties and let me know if you tried it and how you liked it.
