Cyprus Part 1 - Larnaca
So, I had the great luck to go to Cyprus for a few days. For all of you who don´t know, Cyprus is the third largest island located in the Mediterranean sea. My first stop was Larnaca which is also the place where most people land and where the airport is located. Larnaca is the third biggest city in Cyprus and even though many people just land here and move on to the next stop, there are plenty of things to do in Larnaca and the streets are so cute with all their little vintage cafés and stores and it is also great for cute photos.
It did not take long until I found my favorit places. One of them is a juice bar that makes fresh juices from scratch. This is something that I always try to find while traveling, if I don´t bring my own little travel blender which I didn´t this time. The place is called Jouoia and it is located in the little alley between coffee corner and margarita bar and restaurant (you´ll see them from the beach promenade). It is just opposite to sushi bar and grill.
The beaches here in Larnaca are ok, not white sand but the water is beautifully blue and super clear. The beach is pretty packed in high season and you can rent chairs and umbrellas along the whole beach. If you want to lay down in a more quiet area you can do so for free next to the castle. There´s a little cute spot on the public beach.
I found the shopping in Larnaca really great. From branded sunglasses stores with the latest designs from Gucci, Dior, Prada, Le specs to cute local stores with beautiful and rare dresses. Shoes here are also quite inexpensive and you can find very nice sandals with cute petit details for that perfect island look. There are also some very nice swimwear boutiques with some really nice and elegant one pieces and bikinis for a really good price and the quality seems good too. In the city centre you´ll also find a square with restaurants and some boutiques such as Bershka, Mango, Stradivarius, Zara, just to mention a few of my favorit Spanish brands.
Between the cute little streets you´ll find a restaurant for every taste. There is also a wide selection along the beach promenade such as Local, Greek, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, French, Lebanese cuisines as well as fish and seafood, Steak and grill, fresh salads, let´s just say there are plenty of options for everyone. If you continue past the beach promenade and past the castle there is a long promenade and there you´ll also find some cute restaurants where you can enjoy with a great sea view. This area is less busy but also very nice and most of the blue doors and white buildings is here for great photo spots.
If you want a nice view overlooking the ocean you can enter the castle down by the sea, it´s 2.5 EUR and from the top you can get some great photos. Have a look at my photos from this spot here.
I did not stay in Larnaca for that long, but I had a great time and I Could really recommend staying here a day or two for some good shopping before heading around this pretty magical island. Stay tuned for more adventures around Cyprus.
